Soybean Scouting Opportunity

  • Multi-state study examines whether AI and satellite-guided scouting and recommendations can improve yields and profits
  • We will scout fields for you! More details below, QR code below
  • Agroptimizeris open and free for any soybean grower in the North Central Region to use.

We are collaborating on a multi-state examination of AI-guided in-season management of soybean pest and nutrient management. Led by Shawn Conley, soybean agronomist at UW-Madison, results of 2025 work indicated higher profits in 16 of 37 fields, with the remainder having no difference (i.e. no significant downside).

We are looking for Indiana farmers who want to test their present system against Agroptimizer recommendations.

The approach uses satellite-based imagery to detect areas of biotic and abiotic stress – then target scouting at those areas and make recommendations. This improves on regular scouting – an approach based on walking a random or pre-determined pattern through the field in an attempt to find problems.

We are looking for 5 Indiana farms to scout. Once we have your farm GPS coordinates, we will schedule field visits and perform the scouting for you, and report back on the results. All we need are the field details (planting date, seeding rate, etc.) You don’t have to do anything. If interested, please contact ckrupke@purdue.edu, first come first served!
