Alfalfa Weevil Resistance Survey – We Need Your Help!

If you are involved with alfalfa production, you may recall some spring-time discussions and newsletter articles earlier this year about alfalfa weevil and the potential issue of resistance. Specifically, anecdotal reports that pyrethroids may not be working quite as well as they have in the past.

Although Indiana is not a large alfalfa-producing state, this issue is central to any that do grow alfalfa; this key pest is a perennial concern. As a first step towards prioritizing research efforts, a group based at the University of Minnesota is engaging in a survey effort to determine how widespread this issue is.
