VectorBase
The Ixodes scapularis genome data will be managed and displayed as a component of VectorBase, a project directed by Frank Collins at the University of Notre Dame. VectorBase is a web-based, relational database that will enable the research community to search and analyze genomic data and related data types that are produced for invertebrate vectors of human pathogens. Custom analytic tools developed for VectorBase will enable the scientific community to search and analyze project data. VectorBase data will include all genomic data (e.g., EST sequences, trace files, scaffolds, assemblies and automated annotations) plus non molecular data sets (e.g., images, gene ontology and nomenclature, (cytogenetics), functional datasets (e.g., additional EST data, micro-array and RNAi data), population datasets and associated literature. The development of Ixodes scapularis components of VectorBase is directed by Catherine A. Hill, PI (Purdue University) and Stephen K. Wilkel, Co-PI (University of Connecticut), who will collaborate with the scientific community to help guide the development of VectorBase in a manner that best serves the needs of the tick and Lyme disease research and control community.
