This virtual activity is a little different in the way that it is set up because the plight of the forager bee is divided into six different videos. Not as much physical interaction but it was an emotional roller coaster – will not be forgotten.
I think that students pretending to be a co-pilot and talking to the pilot about the plight of forager bees is tongue and cheek in a good way. It makes the activity a little more fun and while doing so gives students an easier way to understand the peril of foraging bees. My students look at bees a little bit differently now.
The objective of these activities is to show the difficulties that pollinators may run into when attempting to collect resources for their hive and I believe that showing these attempts first hand does a good job of representing that.
Loved the hidden humor!
The incident report at the end of each of these videos is a nice way to make sure that the students understand the take-home message for each video.
Wow! The students are able to look through the eyes of bees and see these issues first-hand.
This is a preferable way to learn this information because it delivers it in a new fun way with the comedic aspect of the videos, while still representing the severity of the issues.
