Where Does EAB Come From, And How Did It Get Here?
NCRS, U.S. Forest Service |
Emerald ash borers are not native to North America. Until recently, they were found only in parts of Asia.
These destructive insects arrived from Asia in packing material made from ash wood. Although they were first detected in Detroit in June, 2002, EAB probably arrived there 10 to 12 years before they found.
