The primary goal of the Nematology Program is to identify and manage nematode pests of field and horticultural crops; ornamentals; and forage and turf grasses. Research and extension programs in nematology deal with nematode management schemes that are geared mostly toward Indiana stakeholders, Soybean cyst nematode (SCN), the most destructive pest of soybean, is an important focus of research and extension nematology. The most celebrated accomplishment of this program is the development of a broad-based resistant germ plasm known as CystX®. This patented germ plasm is well received by the soybean industry and is being incorporated into most elite soybean cultivars.
