Bug Bowl 2012 - April 14 & 15
Bug Bowl is a part of the larger campus event called Spring Fest, which is billed as "the lighter side of higher education." Highest attendance was estimated in 2005 at 40,000 visitors! Bug Bowl offers the general public an opportunity to participate in a variety of insect related activities that reinforce the importance of insects in our environment. Components of this event include: the Insect Art Contest, Insect Petting Zoo, Running of the Roaches at Roachill Downs, Arthropod Observation Room, Insect Crafts and Face Painting, Invasive Species Exhibit, Quiz Bowl, Insects as Food demonstrations, Apiculture Exhibit and Honey Tasting Room, display of the winning 4H insect collections from the Indiana State Fair, The Bug Bowl Follies, and an Insect Cake Decorating Contest.bugbowl@purdue.edu

Butterfly Encounter 2012 - July 21, 2011
Butterfly enthusiasts of all ages and expert levels are invited to visit the Evonik Degussa Wildlife Habitat Area in Lafayette, Indiana for a celebration of butterflies on Saturday, July 21, 2012. This family-friendly event celebrates the beauty and diversity of Indiana butterflies and no previous butterfly knowledge is necessary. Everyone from the novice to the expert is welcome and encouraged to attend. Entomologists will help identify the common butterflies of Indiana and discuss butterfly biology, including the importance of biodiversity and habitat conservation for endangered species. Indiana State Fair 2011 - August 5-21
The Department of Entomology has a display during the duration of the Indiana State Fair in Our Land Pavilion. Staff and students will be available to provide information on department research, extension, and outreach activities as well as admissions, financial aid and academic programs. Insectaganza 2011 - October 11, 2011
Each October, Science on Six Legs: An Insectaganza of Education provides 1,000 fifth graders from the West Lafayette, Lafayette and Tippecanoe School Corporations, along with area parochial schools, the opportunity to experience a full day of insect education on the Purdue University campus. Future scientists are nurtured as they learn about the science of entomology through insect dissection labs, the "Insect Quiz Bowl," and presentations on Insect Biology and Insects and the Humanities.View Images from Insectaganza
