To illustrate how the Three-Level Quarantine works, assume that EAB was confirmed in Green Township, located in fictitious Smith County.  Also assume that EAB was not found in any of the county’s other townships.

• The First Level of quarantine would restrict movement of regulated ash items from Green Township itself.
• The Second Level of quarantine would restrict regulated ash materials from leaving Smith County. Regulated materials could move freely between Pink, Yellow, Brown, Orange, and Blue Townships as long as the material did not originate in Green Township. Regulated material from Pink, Yellow, Brown, Orange, and Blue Townships could enter Green Township, but, once there, it would have to remain there.

The Third Level of quarantine restricts the movement of regulated ash products from anywhere within Indiana to any other State.

The resulting “buffer zone” around EAB-infested states will help keep EAB from moving to new areas.
